A Zion Holiday

Wade and I had an awesome trip in Zion National Park. It was so relaxing and nice to get away. We hiked everyday and I loved it. The park was quiet and cold this time of year. One of our hikes was just a few miles outside of Lake Powell, in Paria Canyon (actually Buckskin Gulch-Wade made me clarify that.) It's one of the world's longest slot canyons. The stream has cut a slot in the sandstone down hundreds of feet. It was crazy to touch cliffs on both sides that rise up and out of sight. It was so cool! I really recommend it for anyone, it was pretty easy but if you are short like me you will need someone to help you in a few places. We saw lots of turkey and deer. I was so looking forward to sleep and just hanging out, which we did plenty of.
We laughed the whole time but on our way out of town we stopped and ate at a Macaroni Grill, and I did not expect this dinner to be the most awkward of my life. Somehow our waitress heard us talking about our anniversary, and gave us free chocolate cake, score!! She surprised us by announcing that she wanted to sing us a song. Neither of us wanted a serenade, but she started in anyway, singing "Unchained Melody." We both felt so awkward. Her voice was passable, but by the second verse, people were staring, and we didn't know where to look. She sang pretty much the whole song. She was really into it, she even had "singer face". We were both trying not to laugh. It was a great trip and I will look forward to next year's trip. My wonderful family took awesome care of Weston, and he was so happy to see us when we got home. It was a nice end to this little adventure.

Big Bend is one of my favorite places to visit in Zion's

Just one of our many hikes

Hiking in the Narrow's

This is one of my favorite hikes in June, but in April the 40 degree water does not allow you to get far.

Watching the sunset from our porch!

I was really excited about putting video on my blog, and I can't get the video I want of us on here. But this is a little footage of my favorite place at Zion's.

What a fun get away! You guys look so cute!! Those canyons are so crazy. Did you see/hear about the guy who was in one of those and got his arm stuck? And then he had to cut it off with a little pocket knife. It is an incredible story.

Wow Chari! That looks like a blast, and I'm sure Wade was in paradise! You're quite the adventurist yourself! Was that you in the water? SO FUN! Love you guys, and I'm glad you got to have some relaxing alone time :)

It is nice to see pics of you guys, you look great. I think that is so funny about the lady singing to you! I would've been bright red in embarassment for her. :) Happy Anniversary... last month. :) I'm glad you got a trip!

I've never been to Zion, but it looks beautiful there. One verse of "Unchained Melody" is nice, but the whole song is a little too much in the middle of dinner. :)

You guys know how to vacation. My dad does this trip quite often and really enjoys it. It looks like Ben and I need to do something similar and different for us. We are wanting to go to Sedona with the kids sometime this week, do you guys have any suggestions?

It is alot different than my first pregnancy, I had major morning sickness this time that lasted all day and i'm finally getting to where i feel better, but i'm tired all the time, when i eat i can't eat as much as i want cause i don't have the room. I went to the ultrasound by myself cause my husband had to work, so i freaked out and bawld my eyes out, but now i think i'm getting used to it. It's so good to hear from you!!

Hey Char,
Hate to bug you, but I have a favor to ask you, my sister's almost 2 year old son was just diagnosed yesterday with autism. Needless to say she has so many questions and because this is so foreign to her she just feels lost. She would love to be able to talk to someone that knows a thing or two about this. I immediatly thought of you because you are such a good mom and are really involved in Westons treatments and stuff. Would you mind emailing her. She would so appreciate it.
Her name is Marlee, here is her email.

Thanks.
I totally understand if you are too busy, I just thought I would giveit a shot.
