Below I wrote some special thoughts on family and life. Recently the fragility of life has been reminded to part of my family. These kind of reminders are never welcomed, but they remind me of a quote I heard once,
Don't count the Days-Make the Days Count!
I use to, and sometimes still worry about the challenges of meeting my son's needs as I age. How? What if? Seriously how tall is he going to get? My beautiful mother put things in perspective for me one day.
"Chari, I would not worry so much about some day. You could all die in a car crash, and you would of wasted today thinking about a time that would never come".
Okay-Mom, always has a interesting way of making a point. So life is fragile, but more importantly, make TODAY count.
While in Pinetop a few us decided to throw caution to the wind, and hike on the Indian reservation. Those Keep out signs, and barbed wire, really felt more like an invitation. We wanted to enjoy and celebrate this beautiful place with a stroll. On our walk, Elijah was making funny noises at Weston, and trying to play with him. Weston was confused at what Elijah was saying or doing, smiled at him and gave Elijah a big hug, and we continued to stroll. That moment counted. Not because it was a spontaneous hug from Weston to his cousin. Because every time since I can remember, Elijah asks Weston for a hug if he walks past. Because E cares, he wants to interact with Weston, and he know if he asks with his arms out, 90% of the time, Weston will hug him back. This time, Weston heard Elijah talking to him, and assumed he wanted a hug, but Elijah got more then a hug, he got a smile too. I love the power of family. I love making the days the count. I fail to do it often, I promise to try harder.
I go on and on....often. I often go on and on.... about the love I have for my family. When I say I feel blessed I mean it, not in a I have everything I need kind of way, but I really have everything I NEED! The pictures above are from a trip to to the Pines. Shortly after my Uncle would fall ill. It has been an up and down ride for our family. As we pray, accept, hope and pray some more. I love this quote for an Apostle below. It bring peace to my soul.
And to all who suffer—to all who feel discouraged, worried, or lonely—I say with love and deep concern for you, never give in.Never surrender.Never allow despair to overcome your spirit.Embrace and rely upon the Hope of Israel, for the love of the Son of God pierces all darkness, softens all sorrow, and gladdens every heart.
